Little kids are so interested in rainbows, probably because of the many colors. So for our Family Weekend, I decided to try our luck with creating a rainbow at home.
It’s such a nice sunny day. Our house faces south so the sunlight comes through the window brilliantly. After lunch, I filled up an empty cup with water, put in on the window shelf, moved it around to see if we can spot a rainbow. Oh yes, moving the water-filled cup left and right, we could see a narrow strip of rainbow shining up. Not very easy though. OK let’s try another type of liquid, this time with some tea in the cup, but still keep the liquid transparent so the light can go through. Bingo! An arch of rainbow was clearly projected on a piece of white paper I laid out there. Yea we made a rainbow at home! – with some sunshine, and a cup of tea!
